Appointments

All consultations at the surgery are by appointment.  You should inform reception if you feel you need an urgent appointment. If you cannot keep an appointment please inform us.

Although you may be registered with one doctor, the practice is a partnership and patients are free to make an appointment with any of the doctors. We would, however, encourage you to return to the same doctor for review of ongoing problems.

Although you normally come to just one of our two surgeries, Sevenposts or Greyholme, there may be times when you will have to attend at the other surgery. For example if you need an urgent appointment with the on-call doctor he or she may be working from the other surgery and you will have to go to that surgery to be seen.

Help the Doctor to help you

• Be punctual for your appointments; this reduces delays.
• Apart from exceptional circumstances, please ensure you telephone for an appointment rather than arriving without one.
• If more than one person needs to be seen by the doctor, please ensure that separate appointments are made.
• Please cancel appointments as soon as possible, should you realise you are unable to attend or no longer need the appointment.
• Try to limit appointments to one or two ailments, as any more can cause delays to other patients who may be waiting.
• Please do not ask for immediate visits unless there is a medical emergency.
• Please remember that out of hours visits are for emergency cases only.
• If there is a delay, please be tolerant as emergencies do occur - remember, it could be you. In return for your consideration we will endeavour to give you a prompt, reliable caring and professional service.

Doctors not available

If the doctor you wish to see is not available you will be offered an appointment with one of the other doctors or a locum doctor.

Informal Advice

If you wish to discuss something of a non urgent nature with a doctor please leave a message with reception and the doctor will return your call after surgery.

Home Visits

You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed.

You can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
